We are pleased to confirm that Rushey Mead Educational Trust (RMET) will open a new secondary free school, Castle Mead Academy, in September 2019. The school, which will be the 8th addition to RMET’s family of schools, will be sited by the riverside in the heart of historic Leicester, close to the Friars Mill regeneration area and the Highcross Shopping Centre, with excellent transport links.

Castle Mead Academy, building on Rushey Mead Academy’s outstanding track record, will provide a broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum with a special focus on EBacc subjects. The school will draw on first class leadership and outstanding teaching and learning practices to support each learner, making sure that they have every opportunity to achieve.

The school’s motto, “Growing a Community of Excellence”, highlights RMET’s commitment to provide an outstanding education that will inspire young people to be the best that they can be, so that they become successful, well rounded and confident members of the global community.

Carolyn Robson, CEO of RMET, noted: “We are really excited to have this opportunity to provide much needed additional places for students in Leicester.”

The school will open in September 2019 with eight forms of entry at year 7 with admissions from across the city, and grow organically to its full capacity of 1200. Recruitment for the principal designate will commence on the 6th April 2018.

There will be a number of information events taking place in the summer term and an information evening on 11th September 2018. For information about these events and updates on Castle Mead Academy, please visit: www.castlemead-rmet.org.uk.
